Christmas celebrations

Christmas is celebrated on December 25th and 26th. 10 Christmas trees will be lighted each night in different villages throughout the island, leading to December 18th. On this day, the final Christmas tree will be lighted. Each Christmas tree has a nationality, including St. Kitts, Suriname, Trinidad and The Netherlands. On the final day, December 18th, the Statia tree will be lighted after the Christmas parade has taken place from the airport to Fort Oranjestraat. The parade is already an event itself; everybody is wearing red and white clothes.

So, do you want to experience Christmas on St. Eustatius? Be sure you pack red and white clothes as well!

Another Christmas event is the Christmas competition. This varies from decorating just a small Christmas tree to a complete house, including the roof and the fences of the garden, with coloured lights and Santa's all around.
