On June 14th, 2005 the St. Eustatius Musical Foundation was founded through a joint initiative of Mr. Winston Fleming and Mr. Geert Peters. The goal of the foundation is to expand the musical of scope of talented Statian musicians by means of providing music education, hosting musical events and representing the musical needs of musicians.
One the Foundation's main activities include the hosting of the Mini Summer Festival popularly known as Summer Fest. The organization of Summer Fest falls under the responsibility of Summer Fest Committee Chairman, Mr. Marlon Hook and his team.
"As President of the St. Eustatius Musical Foundation it is my duty to represent the interest of all musicians and bands on the island. The Musical Foundation is presently preparing a project proposal to assist music teachers in St. Eustatius with much needed instruments for their students. Music plays an important role in the lives of many Statians. From the biggest to the smallest, Statians love music. This fact is manifested in the existence of many musical groups on the island. Music interest range from Calypso, Reggae, Dance Hall, Soca, Zouk, R & B, Jazz, Classic to Gospel. It is therefore important to keep music alive by nurturing the many gifted and talented Statian musicians.
